About Me
I am an artist, photographer, and educator. I earned my BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2002, where I focused on sculpture and installation art. After graduating, I traveled extensively throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, and Mexico and lived in Japan. Photography, which had been a creative outlet for me since childhood, became a greater focus during these travels. In 2008, I completed the International Center of Photography’s photojournalism program and co-founded Amaranth Photo with my dear friend Becky Holladay. Together, we built Amaranth into a successful documentary and lifestyle photography business that was in operation for more than 15 years.
My experience as an educator began in museums and after-school programs in New York City and Connecticut in the early 2000s. I earned my master’s degree in education from City College in 2020 and went on to teach art and photography in Hudson Valley public schools for six years, working with students from pre-K through 12th grade. My work across art, photography, and education reflects my curiosity, creativity, and interest in connecting with people.
Currently, I am the Project Coordinator for The Red Sand Project, a nonprofit art initiative that raises awareness about human trafficking. I also serve on the board of Fall Kill Creative Works and continue to experiment with weaving, ceramics, printmaking, and film photography in my own art practice.
